About an hour west of Enid OK, near Fairview in Major County, lies the Gloss Mountains, or as they are sometimes called, the Glass Mountains. The Gloss Mountains are a cluster of red mesas covered in Selenite gypsum, which is where the mountain range gets its name.

The Gloss Mountains have been turned into a state park where people can hike up the mountains, have a picnic at one of the many rest stops and picnic areas scattered across the mountains, and just enjoy nature from what seems like the top of the world.

There is an abundance of wildlife making their homes atop the mountains, including lizards, many insects, and rabbits. A person can see many different types of birds flying overhead while on the mountains. People can also see wildlife roaming around on the seemingly endless prairie down below.

There are many park facilities including a restroom, pavilions, picnic areas, grills, public water supply and a handicap-accessible trail.

The Gloss Mountain State Park is a must-see place when travelling through Western Oklahoma!
